EY, Watershed Launch Sustainability Reporting Partnership

Professional services firm EY US announced a new alliance with climate solutions provider Watershed, aimed at enabling organizations to measure, report and address greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain.

According to the companies, the new alliance will combine Watershed’s sustainability AI platform with EY US, advisory, implementation and program mangement capabilities to help organizations with scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions measurement, product carbon footprinting and sustainability data management to support their decarbonization initiatives.

Founded in 2019, Watershed provides an AI-powered enterprise sustainability platform enabling companies to measure, report, and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, with tools including a climate database for granular emissions measurement, software solutions for sustainability reporting and supply chain engagement, and a carbon removal and clean power project marketplace. The company has expanded its capabilities over time with solutions targeting areas such as waste, water, land-use change, and social and governance metrics.

The alliance comes as companies face increasing regulatory requirements to track and report their GHG emissions, with the emergence of new disclosure regimes including California’s SB 253 in the U.S., and Europe’s CSRD regulation. Highlighting the complexity in the data and measurement methodologies needed to measure scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, EY and Watershed said that the new alliance will provide an end-to-end toolkit encompassing data collection, measurement, reporting, product carbon footprinting, planning and sustainability advisory services.
