Mombak Launches $150 Million Amazon Reforestation Fund, Signs Carbon Removal Deal with Salesforce

Brazil-based carbon project developer Mombak announced the first close of The Amazon Reforestation Fund II, its second fund focused on financing restoration projects in the Brazilian Amazon.

Mombak said that it is targeting raising $150 million for the new fund, which would surpass the predecessor fund’s $120 million.

Founded in 2021, Mombak develops large-scale carbon removal projects, starting with native, biodiverse reforestation of the Amazon rainforest. The company’s solution targets capturing carbon through large-scale reforestation of degraded, unproductive pastureland with native tree species and assisted natural regeneration, with co-benefits including reversing biodiversity loss, improving watershed assets and generating employment and social impact in local communities.

The new fund follows Mombak’s first Amazon reforestation fund, which supported reforestation projects across 15 farms in the Brazilian Amazon, where it has planted nearly 15 million trees to date and created 600 news jobs, the company said.

The company said that the new fund will build on Fund I and incorporate lessons from nearly 100 field experiments spanning species selection, genetic enhancement and reforestation techniques to a new pipeline of degraded pastureland, at greater scale.

Mombak added that the new fund has received approval for a US$40 million line of credit from the Brazilian National Development Bank (BNDES).

Alongside the launch of the new fund, the Mombak announced a new multi-year offtake agreement with CRM solutions provider Salesforce for future carbon removal credits, with the purchases counting towards Salesforce’s commitment to procure nature-based carbon removal through the Symbiosis Coalition.

Tim Christophersen, Vice President for Climate Action at Salesforce, said:

“Achieving a more sustainable future requires pairing ambitious value-chain decarbonization with high-integrity carbon removal. By supporting projects that restore ecosystems and protect nature, we can help build an economic model where our planet and businesses thrive together.”

Mombak delivered its first reforestation-based carbon removal credits in July 2026 to Google, McKinsey, Bain, Climeworks, Commons, McLaren Racing and Union Square Ventures under Isometric’s Reforestation Protocol, more than two years ahead of schedule.

The company said that it expects a second, larger issuance of approximately 80,000 tonnes of carbon removal credits later in 2026, bringing total issuance for the year to more than 100,000 tonnes.

Gabriel Silva, CEO of Mombak, said:

“The market spent years asking whether high-integrity reforestation could actually deliver. We answered that in July, with our first deliveries ahead of schedule. Now, we are scaling our operations, with renewed support from investors, customers and BNDES.”
