Computer peripherals and technology company Logitech announced the launch of Chain Reaction, a supply chain decarbonization program designed to help suppliers reduce carbon emissions and optimize factory operations.
According to Logitech, the new program marks an expansion of its climate strategy, providing direct operational support to help suppliers build their own decarbonization roadmaps while advancing the company’s target to cut its Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in half by 2030.
Sree Chenincherry, Chief Supply Chain Operations Officer at Logitech, said:
“From an operational standpoint, decarbonization and efficiency go hand-in-hand. Equipping our manufacturing partners to reduce energy waste and transition to clean power unlocks structural cost savings, mitigates long-term volatility and strengthens our entire shared value chain.”
Under the new program, which will launch with an initial cohort of 17suppliers, Logitech will work with suppliers to aggregate purchasing power for renewable energy procurement, and support supplier-led factory evaluations to identify opportunities to improve energy, thermal and mechanical efficiency. The initiative will also provide technical workshops, roundtables and innovation sessions, alongside co-developed reporting tools to streamline carbon accounting and eliminate administrative overhead.
In addition, Logitech said that as part of the new program, it will integrate carbon transparency and decarbonization into regular business reviews and new business awards.
Elaine Laird, Chief People and Sustainability Officer at Logitech, said:
“Real value-chain decarbonization happens directly on the factory floor. Our suppliers understand their operations best. Chain Reaction helps our manufacturing partners access the practical tools, technical evaluations and clean energy solutions they need to optimize their operations and lead their own decarbonization roadmaps.”
