Zurich-based Carbon removal solutions provider Climeworks announced that its carbon dioxide removal (CDR) portfolio service, Climeworks Solutions, has signed 14 new carbon removal deals in the first half of 2026, totaling 450,000 tons of CDR across a range of technologies.
Founded in 2009 by Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher, Zurich-based Climeworks provides companies with carbon removal solutions, including its own DAC technology, with the company operating the world’s first two DAC plants.
In 2024, Climeworks announced the launch of Climeworks Solutions, a new service providing companies with tailored, high-quality carbon removal portfolios, spanning a broad range of carbon removal technologies and solutions, such as afforestation and reforestation, biochar, bioenergy with carbon capture and storage, enhanced rock weathering, as well as DAC.
According to the company, the 14 new partnerships span industries such as banking, aviation, healthcare, luxury, retail, and technology, and include AI infrastructure company NTT DATA, Canadian financial services firm Toronto-Dominion Bank, and Tapestry, marking Climeworks’ first partnership with a North American retail and consumer goods group.
The company said that the agreements total approximately 450,000 tons of carbon dioxide removal, spanning a diversified portfolio of pathways including Biochar, Bio Energy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS), Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW), Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation (ARR), as well as Direct Air Capture (DAC).
Climeworks said that the companies involved each generate more than $5 billion in annual revenue, highlighting growing adoption of carbon removal among large corporate buyers. The company added that the agreements reflect a broadening customer base for carbon removal solutions, with demand expanding across sectors and geographies.
Adrian Siegrist, Chief Commercial Officer at Climeworks, said:
“In just two years, Climeworks Solutions has established itself as a leader in this space by combining the best engineered and nature-based removals into diversified portfolios, while maintaining a strong focus on delivery, transparency and reliability.
