Asuene Acquires Supply Chain Carbon Management Platform Secaro

Tokyo-based sustainability solutions provider Asuene announced today the acquisition of supply chain carbon management platform Secaro for approximately $37 million, in a deal described by Asuene as aimed at expanding its presence in the UK, European and US markets as global pressure mounts on manufacturers to measure and disclose emissions in their supply chains.

Launched in 2018 as Manufacture 2030, and rebranded last year, Secaro provides supply chain sustainability data collection, analytics and supplier decarbonization programs for global manufacturers. The company’s primary data includes corporate, facility, and product information, allowing network members to share insights and leverage collaborative action, and helping organizations to decarbonize by combining data, AI, and collaboration.

The acquisition follows the announcement earlier today by Asuene that it has raised $87 million in a Series D funding round aimed largely at supporting its M&A activities as it expands across the U.S., UK and EU sustainability disclosure markets.

According to Asuene, the new acquisition will strengthen its foothold in two of the world’s most active sustainability disclosure markets, with companies in Europe already reporting sustainability data under the CSRD regulation, and another wave set to follow from 2028, and ISSB-aligned sustainability reporting proposed to become mandatory for listed companies in the UK from 2027. The company noted that Scope 3 emissions typically account for the largest share of a company’s carbon footprint, making supply chain emissions data a growing compliance priority for manufacturers in these markets.
